General Description:

The CPU-1462 is an embedded board based on two modules: a mezzanine CPU module stacked on top of a PC/104-Plus form factor carrier. The mezzanine CPU module is a small board that features the processor and its Intel®815E chipset with 133MHz maximum bus frequency. The processor is the Low Voltage 800MHz Pentium® III processor core that has outstanding computational performance and good power consumption and is suitable for high performance mathematics intensive embedded applications. 256MB system DRAM is directly soldered on board.

This high reliability CPU module is available as standard or extended (-40 to +85°C) operating temperature range. The CPU-146X Pentium III processor based modules have been widely proven and accepted in demading professional and military mobile applications that require onboard soldered DRAM and operation under temperature extremes. The unique structural heat spreader evens out the temperature of all critical components on the board: processor, chipset, SDRAM and other heat generating components. Heat is structurally dissipating over a large surface area to the enclosure. This solution guarantees reliable operation up to +85°C without thermally overloading components on the board and makes mechanical system construction easier. All extended temperature range CPU modules are tested and qualified individually.

The carrier implements all external interfaces, including 4 high speed USB 2.0 ports, 4 standard USB1.1 ports, Fast 10/100Mbit Ethernet interface, 2 serial ports, parallel port, display interface with CRT and digital LVDS output, AC97 audio codec interface, auxiliary power, keyboard and mouse ports and a high speed IDE controller that supports any type of IDE Flash devices (DiskonModule, CompactFlash and Flash Disk). The carrier also performs the connections for the ISA and PCI bus enabling the CPU-1462 to stack on top of a PC/104-Plus system. The carrier provides a hardware Watchdog Timer and Real Time Clock (external backup battery needed),

The module's embedded Eurotech BIOS is located in a 1MB Flash EPROM and is re-programmable onboard. The set-up parameters are saved in Flash to allow the module to operate without a battery.
