The Eurotech COM-1480 combines the latest high-speed 3G wireless cellular connectivity and a low power GPS receiver into embedded PC/104 systems. This low power integrated telematics board is the ideal choice for high performance onboard computing applications requiring 3G backhaul connection and precise GPS positioning. A standard SIM-card can be installed onboard into a locking card holder, or onto an external SIM card carrier. Two versions of the COM-1289 are available from Eurotech, one with a 4-band 3G HSDPA/UMTS modem with GPRS/GSM support and one with a Dual band (800/1900 MHz) CDMA 1XEV-DO Rev A 3G modem.

High peak datarates can be achieved with the COM-1480: 3.6Mbps in HSDPA/UMTS networks, 216kbps in EDGE/GPRS/GSM networks and up to 3.1Mbps using CDMA EV-DO Rev A. These high wireless speed connections open new applications such as video streaming, passenger Wifi on public transportation or Mobile-IP using a mobile access router such as the Eurotech DuraMAR2000
