General Description:

The Eurotech COM-1284 high precision GPS module integrates on a single board a low power OEM GPS receiver from NOVATEL and four 16C550 compatible RS-232 serial ports. This board is designed for high performance mission critical GPS application on land, sea or air. One of the on-board buffered serial ports is reserved by the GPS; the other three RS-232 buffered serial ports are free for user expansion. Each serial port address and interrupt can be selected individually using 2mm jumpers to standard addresses of COM1,2,3,4 or to any free I/O space or IRQ. The GPS receiver PPS pulse can be routed to a bus IRQ. The GPS receiver configuration COM ports are available for external connection on 10-pin headers located under the GPS receiver. The GPS receiver module is fixed on the PC/104-bus carrier using steel standoffs and four M3 screws.

All the GPS receiver status I/O signals can be accessed through the onboard control registers mapped in address BASE+400h of the COM port. GPS configuration scripts can be sent to the GPS receiver through the configuration serial port interfaces of the GPS receiver.
