General Description:

The COM-1273 dual galvanically isolated CAN-bus controller board is designed to operate in difficult electrical environments encountered in vehicles and industry. Two independent Philips SJA1000 CAN controllers are decoded into the address space of the host PC. The board supports the Eurotech FlexiSet jumperless software programmable board configuration for the BASE-address, host IRQ and bit-programmable digital I/O control. A non volatile EEPROM is used to store the board parameters. This advanced scheme allows for board reconfiguration in the PC104 stack and increases reliability in high vibration environments. EMI-filtering of the CAN-interfaces and bus protection ensure compliance with the CAN-specification as well as EU low voltage directives required for CE compliance.

Integrated on the board is a full I2C-bus for system expansion and remote diagnostics. This bus is controlled by the onboard I2C-bus controller in the FPGA. Up to 16 bit programmable TTL/CMOS digital I/O can be used to interface to various devices. User functions and additional interrupt inputs are supported as a custom features. The onboard FPGA makes the COM-1273 different from many basic CAN boards in the market. This technology allows for complex control I/O functions to be programmed into the digital I/O-port such as incremental encoder decoders, PWM control ports, timer/counter etc. These application specific functions are available upon request on a project basis.
