The COM-1240 is an intelligent MVB-bus interface module specifically developed to act as a gateway between an embedded PC/104 system and the train MVB bus (Multifunctional Vehicle Bus). This versatile module supports enhanced communications with all the devices installed on board railway vehicles thus simplifying device-computer connections and expanding compatibility.

The COM-1240 features a 32-bit, 24MHz RISC microprocessor that supports the complete TCN (Train Communication Network) protocol stack Class 3 and optionally Class 4, up to the session layer. This architecture frees CPU resources on the main computer CPU module as it will only need to process the application layer services of the TCN protocols. The COM-1240 is lightweight and features a very low power consumption. The module works reliably over the complete temperature range specified in EN50155 and it is resistant to high vibrations, humidity and extreme temperatures commonly encountered in train installed environments.
