General Description:

Eurotech offers the new Duraptor™ as a standard COTS computer system platform specially designed for mobile and avionics applications. The modular architecture and internal structure of the Duraptor fully exploits the stacking modularity of PC/104Plus modules. A ready hardened computer platform speeds up development and approvals, reduces design risk and time-to-market. The computer system core is complete, only project or application specific interfaces need to be added. Connector changes, system upgrading and adaptation does not result in expensive NRE-costs or incompatible mechanical structures that can not be re-used. The Duraptor system is ideal for low to medium volume projects.

The Duraptor system includes a CPU, solid state mass storage and a power supply in a rugged NEMA 4x protected enclosure with an isolated floating card cage. An optional shock mount base can be added for low frequency vibration or impact, recoil or crash protection.

Internal cabling, filtering and connectors to the outside are available on the front panel. The back panel is intended to be used for additional I/O interfaces. This makes customer adaptation easy. The standard system is dimensioned for two project specific expansion modules, Duraptor systems are available upon request with expansion up to 7 modules.

Available CPU options include the new AMD ultra-low power consuption Geode® processor, the Intel® Celeron or Intel® PIII processor. Internal mass storage in the standard systems is either CF, 2.5" Flash HDD or a 2.5" Automotive Class 20GB HDD. The Duraptor system is powered by an isolated power supply with a peak output power of 100W. An optional military application power supply is availble with proprietary input protection and filtering to meet MIL-STD 461/704 and 1275 requirements.

Applications can run on eXP, WINCE or Linux operating systems. A covering Board Support Package (BSP) is available to speed up application development.

Available generic interfaces are tailored to meet the most common system requirements. These include regular serial ports, USB 2.0 ports, monitor, PS/2 keyboard and mouse as well as power and 10/100Mbit Ethernet. Dedicated protected connectors are used for high speed USB2.0 as well as Ethernet to ensure data and signal integrity and EMI protection.

The Duraptor system meets the requirements of EN50155 standard; extended operating temperature range (-25°C/+70°C) as well as resistance to humidity as well as shocks and vibrations commonly encountered in vehicle or airborne installations.
