General Description:

The Eurotech DuraNAV™ is a low power embedded PXA255 processor based standard system platform designed for demanding cost sensitive real time vehicle tracking and telematics applications. It combines a powerful ultra low power CPU with advanced in-vehicle peripheral and wireless connectivity. Several standard systems configurations are available with different wireless/interface options.

Applications can run on Embedded WINCE 5.0 or Linux 2.6 kernel operating systems. A covering Board Support Package (BSP) is available to speed up application development. Mass storage is avilable inside the DuraNAV for the OS, application program as well as data storage. ready utility programs are available to interrogate and interface to the Eurotech PCN-1001 passenger counter through a RS-485 serial port.

The DuraNAV combines 12-channel GPS satellite positioning with wireless cellular communication over GSM/GPRS as well as Wi-Fi (802.11) and data transfer using a 10/100Mbit Ethernet interface. Local I/O expansion or connection to the vehicle bus is possible using the integrated CAN-bus interface.

Available interfaces are tailored to meet the most common requirements encountered in AVL, telematics and fleet management systems.These include 12/24V signal level optoisolated digital I/0; 4 in each direction, Oedometer input for distance measurement, Audio I/O and USB 1.1 port for general device connectivity. User or driver identification is possible using a 1-wire EEPROM based solution.

The DuraNAV meets the requirements of the EN50155 standard; with extended operating temperature range (-25°C/+70°C) as well as resistance to humidity as well as shocks and vibrations commonly encountered in vehicle installations.

To improve the mechanical durability locking circular watertight connectors are used. The WLAN, GPS and GPRS antennas use locking R-SMA connector to increase reliability. Circular locking connectrs are used for signal and power I/O. On the back side is a service panel that covers connectors such as the SIM-card slot, USB 1.1 and a reset connector. Access to these connections can performed without removing the system from its installation and connections.
