The COM-1274 is a higly integrated PC/104 multi-interface communication module. It supports up to 8 independent high speed 16C550 asynchronous serial ports, two independent Intel 82527 CAN-bus controllers. The serial ports can be configured as 8 RS-232, or 4 RS-232 and 4 RS-422/485 ports supporting up to 132 devices in a multidrop environment. Shared interrupts are supported, both XT and AT interrupts can be used.

The CAN-bus ports complete the communication interfaces on board; the required physical interface can be selected to support isolated wired CAN or fiberoptocal interface. CAN is commonly uses in mobile and vehicle applications as well as machine control and remote I/O expansion.
